Insulating glass is composed of two layers of glass, and a closed air interlayer is formed between the two layers of glass structure, and the thermal resistance of the air interlayer is much greater than the thermal resistance of single layer glass, so the insulation performance of insulating glass is far better than that of single layer glass. The insulating glass filled with inert gas can improve the insulation performance of about 10% compared with the insulating glass whose hollow layer is ordinary dry air.
What is an inert gas?
Inert gases are colorless, odorless, non-toxic, gaseous monatomic molecules, which are difficult to carry out chemical reactions, so they are also called "inert gases". Among them, the inert gases used in insulating glass are generally: argon, krypton, and xenon. Among these three gases, argon has the highest content in the air, accounting for about 1% of the air, which is relatively easy to extract and low in price, and is the most commonly used inert gas to fill the hollow glass air layer.
What is the role of insulating glass filled with argon?
1. Improve thermal insulation performance. Because inert gases have higher density and lower thermal conductivity than air, their performance is more stable. Therefore, it can slow down the heat convection in the middle layer and reduce the thermal conductivity of the gas. It can be seen that the higher the concentration of argon, the better the insulation performance.
2.Argon can make the inner surface of the glass closer to room temperature, reduce the occurrence of condensation, not easy to appear in the winter dew and frost phenomenon.
3.Improve the safety of glass. Modern building window glass area is large, if the hollow layer is not smooth, the two layers of glass under the action of atmospheric pressure uneven force will appear suction phenomenon. After argon is filled, the internal and external pressure difference can be reduced, the pressure balance can be maintained, and the glass burst caused by the pressure difference can be reduced.
4. Argon is an inert gas, which can effectively reduce resonance and greatly improve its sound insulation and noise reduction effect.
5. Because the gas filled is a dry inert gas, the air with water in the hollow glass chamber can be replaced to keep the environment in the chamber dry and extend the service life of the molecular sieve in the aluminum spacer frame.
6. In the use of low-radiation Low-E glass or coated glass, because the gas filled is inactive inert gas, the protective film layer can reduce the oxidation rate and extend the service life of the glass.
